Ever wondered how to remove the “uncategorized” category in WordPress? If you don’t use it, it is very annoying and can take up unnecessary (if not critical) space in your navigation. Luckily, it is quite simple to remove it if you know the process… in fact, you just might smack your forehead (like I did) when you realize how obvious it is.

Step 1: Change the Default Category for Posts

a) Log in to WordPress and in the left-hand menu go to “Settings > Writing” ... more on deleting the uncategorized category

http://www.wordpressseo.ca/blog/an-example-of-how-the-seo-slug-plugin-can-help-your-posts/
